The highest quality services
We are proud of our record for the provision of high quality mental health services. In the five years to 2009, the Healthcare Commission awarded the Trust the highest rating of 'excellent' for the quality of our clinical services. Under the new Care Quality Commission regulations the Trust has achieved registration without conditions.
We have developed this by being a patient-centred organisation. We listen and respond to the needs of our patients.
Our services have waiting times well below the national target of 11 weeks for initial assessment. Some of our most popular services, such as our Couples Therapy Service for relationships, have longer waiting times. We always aim to see patients as soon as possible.
The highest quality staff
We know that a 'one size fits all' approach doesn't work, so we offer a tailored approach for individual needs. Our staff can offer expertise across the range of disciplines, including:
- psychiatry
- family therapy
- psychology
- psychotherapy
- social work
- nursing
- teaching (in our children's services)
The majority of our staff also teach on the postgraduate courses we run, so they keep up to date with the most 'cutting edge' treatments and theories about mental health conditions. Indeed many of our staff write and publish key works on mental health treatment. Some of the most important ideas on how mental health problems develop and how they can be treated originated in our clinics.
Our staff are trained to understand the impact of culture, class, ethnicity, race, gender, disability and language on mental health functioning, and our staff group comes from a diverse background.
How we work
We have expertise in working with people and families where their difficulties are particularly complex, for example personality problems, and where there is more than one presenting problem, for example an eating disorder and depression.
Where necessary we work closely with other agencies so that services are joined up in a sensible and efficient way.
