Refugee service

Who is this service for?

Our refugee service provides a culturally sensitive service to refugees and asylum seeking people in Camden and other London boroughs. We work closely with cultural advocates and interpreters.

What we can offer

  • Emotional support for parents who feel they are struggling to cope with too many demands
  • support for accompanied teenagers
  • help with managing children's or young people's difficult behaviour at home or school
  • help for children and young people to deal with difficult feelings arising from dislocation, trauma and loss
  • help for children and young people to make more of opportunities to learn
  • support for families in managing the challenge of living between cultures
  • support for parents in finding their way around health and education systems, and managing the uncertainties of the asylum process.

We run community outreach programmes for Somali, Congolese, Afghani and other communities. We work with children and young people, parents, nuclear and extended families and groups of people experiencing similar difficulties.

We meet with people in schools, children's centres, community settings and at the Tavistock Centre.
