Who this service is for
Our Parents’ and Carers’ Consultation Service offers free and confidential consultations to single parents and parental couples who are experiencing conflict or other emotional difficulties with young people aged 14 - 25 years.
Why refer to this service?
Being a parent can be very stressful, but especially so when a child has emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.
As children get older these difficulties can emerge, which can place a strain on the family.
This service offers a confidential and non-judgmental space for parents and carers of young people to talk about their problems and to gain help.
Kinds of treatment offered
We can offer up to six meetings, of approximately an hour each, aimed at helping parents develop a new perspective on the difficult situations with which they are faced. The consultation may also include some discussion of the ordinary processes of adolescent development.
