Champions of children to receive honors

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Kids Company founder Camila Batmanghelidjh and peer Earl of Listowel were recognised by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust in recognition of their amazing and tireless work to improve things for disadvantaged children and young people. Both received an Honorary Degree at the Trust’s annual graduation ceremony on Saturday 17 January 2009.

Camila Batmanghelidjh, the psychotherapist, former student of the Trust, and founder and Director of Kids Company and founder of The Place to Be, and the 6th Earl of Listowel have both made significant achievements for children and young people living in poverty, with Camila working on the front line and the Earl of Listowel influencing real change at the heart of the Government.

Collaboratively run by the Trust and the University of East London, the awards ceremony also celebrated the substantial achievement of some of the Trust’s 2000 graduates. All the awards are linked to qualifications on courses which add enormously to the knowledge, skills and therapeutic capacities of members of the mental health, social care and education professions.
