The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and Coram are pleased to announce that the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) Intervention Team was awarded the Guardian Public Services award for Service Delivery for Children and Young People last night.
Rita Harris, Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) Service Director said “This is wonderful news and adds to an already impressive list of achievements. This is a fantastic accolade for the team and these awards provide a great opportunity to showcase the specialist work that we do. I would like, once again, to thank all of the staff who work so hard to support vulnerable families through the FDAC service”.
Drawing on work from the US, the FDAC provides support to families trying to break the cycle of substance addiction. The court uses specialist judges who encourage and motivate parents as they progress through the programme and a specialist team to work intensively with the families. The article in the Guardian, Fairer hearings for parents, gives more information on the project and the award.
