If you are an adult or young person seeking help for yourself, then the information in this section will enable you to get the help you need.
It can feel daunting talking to someone about a mental health issue or problems with emotional well-being. However, these kinds of problems are surprisingly common – it is estimated that one in four adults have significant emotional difficulties at any one time.
There is a great deal of research to show that talking treatments are very effective for a range of emotional problems. The government's health body that identifies good practice, NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence), recommends talking treatments for a range of emotional problems including depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessions, eating disorders and compulsions.
