Board of Governors’ By-Election, Summer 2011

This summer, the Trust is holding a by-election for two seats on the Board of Governors for members in the Rest of England and Wales class.

The two Governors who held these seats previously, Chrissie Kimmons and Jan McHugh, have both resigned from their seats for personal reasons. We are very sorry to see them go, but are looking forward to working with two new Governors.

The Board of Governors plays an important role in decision-making in our Trust. They have a number of important statutory responsibilities, such as appointing our Trust Chair and our Non-Executive Directors, and also contribute greatly to the development of a number of projects within the Trust, from really important matters such as our Annual Plan, to smaller projects such as helping with the re-design our entrance lobby. Being a Governor is an exciting opportunity to get involved in the work of the Trust and develop skills. For more information on being a Governor, our Governor Handbook is available at www.tavistockandportman.nhs.uk/governorsresponsibilities

Anyone living outside of greater London was eligible to apply to become a Governor provided they are over 18 years of age. The deadline for submitting nominations was Monday 1st August. We received four nominations for the two seats. The candidates are below. Should any of the candidates wish to withdraw their nomination, they must do so by Friday 5th August.

  •       Ms Miranda Alcock
  •       Ms Jo Blanchard
  •       Ms Maria Foldvari
  •       Ms Lou James

Ballot papers will be sent to all members in the “Rest of England and Wales” class of the Public Constituency and they will have until Wednesday 21st September to cast their vote.

The key dates are below:
