Executive Directors

Dr. Matthew Patrick  - Chief Executive

Matthew Patrick was appointed Chief Executive in March 2008, and prior to that he was Trust Director from 2005 until 2008. Dr Patrick has been a Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy at the Trust since 1996. He was a Wellcome Trust Advanced Training Fellow from 1993 until 1999, a lecturer in Developmental Psychopathology at University College London from 1991 until 1999, and a MRC Training Fellow at the Tavistock Clinic from 1990 until 1999.

 

Mr Simon Young  - Finance Director

Simon Young was appointed Finance Director in April 1996. Prior to that, Mr Young was Director of Finance at the London Ambulance Service from 1991 until 1996. Mr Young trained as a management accountant in the manufacturing industry, working for the National Can Corporation from 1981 until 1987, and for Glaxo from 1987 until 1991. Mr Young is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

 

Dr. Rob Senior - Medical Director

Rob Senior was appointed Medical Director in December 2006. Dr Senior is an Honorary Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust (MHA Section 12 approved), and is a systemic psychotherapist. Dr Senior is a Senior Research Fellow at University College London.

 

Ms Louise Lyon - Trust Director

Louise Lyon was appointed Trust Director in March 2008. Prior to her current appointment, Ms Lyon was the Clinical Director of the Adolescent Directorate at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust from 2007 until 2008, and has been a Consultant Clinical Psychologist since 1996. Ms Lyon was a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at South West Kensington and Chelsea Mental Health Centre from 1988 until 1999. Ms Lyon is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Essex.

 

 Ms Trudy Klauber 

Trudy Klauber was appointed Dean of Postgraduate Studies in September 2004. Prior to that, she was the Head of Child Psychotherapy in the Child and Family Directorate at the Trust, as well as an organising tutor for the PG Dip/MA in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies. Ms Klauber is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Donald Winnicott Centre, and was a Director there from 1994 until 1996. Ms Klauber has also taught and supervised overseas since 1987.

 

Ms Lis Jones - Nurse Director

Lis Jones was appointed as the part time Director of Nursing in September 2010. Ms Jones retired from full time NHS employment in 2009, when she was Director of Nursing and of Older People’s Services in Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust. Since 1981, Ms Jones has worked as a Mental Health Nurse in central London, in a variety of inpatient and community setting, as well as in senior nursing leadership roles, including a period as a Nurse Adviser at the Department of Health.

 

Non-Executive Directors

Ms Angela Greatley - Trust Chair

Angela Greatley was appointed Trust Chair in November 2009. Her term of office ends in October 2012. Ms Greatley was formerly Chief Executive of the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health, a Fellow in mental health at the King’s Fund, and has experience of working in the NHS in a variety of managerial roles and as a director of commissioning. She is currently a Non-Executive Director of Headstrong, the Irish National Youth Mental Health Centre.

 

Mr Richard Strang - Deputy Trust Chair

 

Richard Strang was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in August 2006, and was re-appointed in May 2010. His term of office ends in October 2013. Mr Strang is also Chair of the Audit Committee. Mr Strang was an accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell from 1971 until 1978, worked in corporate finance at Morgan Grenfell from 1978 until 1997, and was a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns from 1998 until 2004. Mr Strang has been a corporate finance consultant since 2004, and has been a Governor and Chair of the Finance Committee of Sherborne Girls school since 2008.

 

 

Mr Martin Bostock  - Senior Independent Director

 

Martin Bostock was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in November 2008. His term of office ends in October 2011.Mr Bostock is also the Trust’s Senior Independent Director. Mr Bostock is the Chairman of Nelson Bostock Communications, a leading PR agency, and has been a Trustee of The Citizenship Foundation since 2007. Mr Bostock has experience of working in PR agencies and in press and publicity roles since 1977.

 

Ms Joyce Moseley - Non-Executive Director

Joyce Moseley was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in January 2009. Her term of office ends in December 2012. Ms Moseley has been the Chief Executive of Catch22 since 1999, and has been a Trustee of the Who Cares? Trust since 1997. Ms Moseley was Director of Social Services for the London Borough of Hackney from 1991 until 1997, and a member of the Youth Justice Board from 1998 until 2004. Ms Moseley received an OBE in 2007 for services to youth justice.

 

Mr Atlaf Kara - Non-Executive Director

Altaf Kara was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in November 2007, and was re-appointed in May 2010. His term of office ends in October 2013. Mr Kara is currently a Director in Healthcare Practice at Ernst and Young. Mr Kara was a Partner in Accenture from 1995 until 2002, an independent Management Consultant from 2003 until 2004, and Managing Director of Alvarez and Marsal from 2005 until 2006.

 

Dr. Ian McPherson - Non-Executive Director

Ian McPherson was appointed in November 2010. Dr McPherson has held various roles in prominent mental health organisations. These include being the Chief Executive of the Mental Health Providers Forum, a Director of the National Mental Health Development Unit from 2009 – 2011 and a Director of the National Institute for Mental Health in England from 2002 – 2009. He has also held positions as Director of Mental Health within the NHS as well, in Worcestershire and North Warwickshire. Dr McPherson is also a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and a fellow of the British Psychological Society.

Our Non-Executive Directors are appointed by our Board of Governors, and can serve up to two terms of office of three years each.
