Dr Rita Harris, a leading expert on the emotional health of children, appeared on the live show with the Chief Executive of Coram, the oldest children’s charity to highlight the rising incidents of mental health issues in young children and adolescents and to discuss some of the pioneering and innovative work done by us, in partnership with Coram, to address this issue. Rita discussed the importance of working in the community to address complex needs, highlighting our outreach work in schools and particularly our work in primary schools where our therapists work with children, parents and teachers. As well as improving the mental health of individuals this work has been shown to have a positive effect on pupil behaviour bringing benefits for classes and the school as a whole. The show also covered our pioneering work with families plagued by substance misuse problems and our Family Drug and Alcohol Court Service.
