New International Training School for Infancy and Early Years

In this section:

“Depression. Behaviour problems. Personality disorders. Mental health issues among children and young people often have their roots in infancy. Many of these problems are preventable through early intervention.”

The new International Training School for Infancy and Early Years (ITSIEY) aims to tackle these formidable problems by offering evidence based training to the workforce that supports vulnerable young children and their families.

ITSIEY is a unique international collaboration between the Anna Freud Centre, The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and Yale University Child Study Center. It draws on the expertise of these Centres of Excellence to set evidenced, expert-agreed standards of knowledge and skills that the broad range of professionals and practitioners need in order to work competently with infants, young children and their families.

ITSIEY is established in tandem with the Government’s recent recognition of the health, social and financial cost effectiveness of early intervention in early childhood and aims to improve societal provision for the welfare of babies and young children by providing first class training for professionals in this field.

ITSIEY offers:

  • Cutting edge research and clinical knowledge
  • Multidisciplinary approach
  • Modular structure that facilitates flexible training
  • Generic foundation training in IMH
  • CPD opportunities
  • Expert teaching
