Friday, November 14, 2008
Dr Richard Graham, one of our foremost experts on adolescent mental health, comments on the rising problem in adolescents of addiction to computer games.
Richard talks about cases admitted to the Trust where adolescents are spending 14-16 hours a day playing games such as virtual online fantasy game World of Warcraft and the problems this can create. These problems include lack of sleep, worsening school performance, an increasing inability to face their actual identities due to the accomplishments of their fictional alter-egos and a general distancing from the real world.
